Extra-Curricular Activities

Shaping Skills, Building Confidence

At MAZ International School, participating in extra-curricular activities is encouraged. A wide array of extra-curricular activities is offered. Some of the activities available are:

BASKETBALL

There is a buzzing Basketball program for the Boys & Girls at the Junior (U-15, U-17) and the Senior (U-18+) ‘Varsity’ levels under the guidance of able coaching staff. Our Senior Boys and Girls teams participate in the Inter-School Competitions in Kuala Lumpur. In the recent past, we have finished 2nd in the Senior Boys category of the ISKL International tourney involving schools from Singapore and Malaysia.

FOOTBALL

Under the guidance of a football coach, the children’s skills are polished during the weekly training sessions. Consequently, the football teams participate in ISKL-hosted tournaments as well as in the Inter-School Competitions. This is the most popular sporting ethic which keeps our players winning performances at inter-school tournaments in Kuala Lumpur and beyond. The U-17 and U-19 Boys have finished Champions at the Wakkosuga Cup 2005. Our teams were runners-up in the ISKL tournament and Third at the ISKL event last year.

SWIMMING

The 50m long regulation Olympic-size pool is well utilised for teaching the children to swim, stroke correction, squad training and matches. Swimming Club is held weekly and the emphasis is on fun and fitness.

ART CLUB

The children learn to draw and are given the opportunity to try out various mediums such as paints, oil pastels, etc.

DRAMA CLUB

The Drama Club gives children the opportunity to express themselves. It builds up their self-confidence and self-esteem. At weekly meetings, the children dance, act out short skits, and play drama games. The Drama Club stages a play or a musical once a year.

BADMINTON

Badminton is a popular racquet sport in this part of the world. At MAZ, we have professional Badminton coaches associated with the BAM training clinics, Who teach technical and tactical play during the weekly club activities.

GIRL GUIDES

The Girl Guides deliver high quality non-formal educational programmes that provide girls with dynamic and values-based training in life skills and leadership. At the weekly meetings, the Girl Guides do a wide range of enjoyable activities.

CHESS CLUB

The game of Chess has among its benefits, improved concentration, mental discipline, planning and appreciation of the consequences of actions. As it proves to aid in the learning system, our CHESS club meets once every week to hone the skills of our young players under the guidance of our teachers.

TAEKWONDO

The Korean martial art “tae” to strike or break with foot “kwon” by hand and “do” loosely translated as “the way of the hand and the foot.” The lessons combine combat techniques, self-defence, sport, exercise. Taekwondo is the world’s most popular martial art in terms of number of practitioners.
